How We Got Over Being Strangers in a
New Church
Finding a new church home can be a challenging experience in the
life of a Christian. At the onset there is a flurry of introductions
and a maze of new names and faces. Sometimes it is a particular
activity of the congregation which will bring new members into
assimilation of the work of the church. Very often it is the school
which brings about an interest in the total ministry at First.
Sunday morning Bible classes are an excellent way to become acquainted.
Stay a few minutes after church and someone will welcome you.
We have found that being a friend is a sure way to find a friend.
First Lutheran is made up of people of all ages, so there is always
a shared interest. Within a short time you should feel settled
and you will find yourself walking up to a visitor and saying;
"I'm sure glad you came to OUR church."
Getting to know Jesus Better
Do you know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior? Are you uncertain
if you have peace with God? We at First Lutheran encourage you
to put your trust in Jesus and the price He paid for your sins
when He died on the cross. You can do that by praying a prayer
from your heart like this one:
"Lord Jesus, I realize that because of my sin I need complete
forgiveness and peace with God. I believe that you died for my
sins on the cross. I trust in You for forgiveness of my sins and
a home in heaven. I thank You for your promise of forgiveness,
peace with God, and eternal life for me today. Amen."
If this is your prayer, or, if you want to know more about God,
you will be interested in the Pastor's class which deals with
the Foundations of Faith. The classes are scheduled with the Pastor.
Please contact Pastor Wartick for more details. Either call the
church office at 413/534-7071, or send him an email at pastorflc@comcast.net.
